Social Networks

I spent some time looking at some of the social networks. I looked at Ning, My Space and Facebook. It is not something that interests me to subscribe to but I do understand that this is how many people interact now. I know that the younger generation is definitely hooked on MySpace and Facebook. Ning seemed like it might appeal to older people(not teens). I am still wary about putting all of that information out there about yourself. It can be scary! I was amazed at all of the different social networks that are out there. You can find a network for anything that you want to communicate with other people about....as your ethnic background,career,hobbies,etc. I know that Teens use these social networks in our Library. I am sure that adults do also but I don't know any statistics about how much they use them.

I am trying to absorb all of this new technology and all of these terms. I explored some of the feeds and chose a few. I chose Paper Cuts,Reading Room(Sunday Book Review),Library Stuff,Librarian.net,Good News network(we all need some!) and Newsweek. I think that these sites will provide a lot of useful information.
